It is important to remember that all engagement via Re-Ex is genuine, therefore it is difficult to predict exactly how much engagement a campaign will receive. There are various factors that can affect the success of a campaign including time of day, how many similar campaigns are currently running and plain luck. That said, there are a few things you can do in order to maximise a campaign's potential.

Genre:

To ensure your campaigns show up in searches and recommendations, we strongly recommend choosing from SoundCloud’s ‘main’ options when selecting a genre for your track - eg, House, Hip-Hop & Rap, Techno etc. Labelling tracks with custom genres (or no genre at all) will make them far less likely to be seen. You can use #tags to attach non-standard genres or keywords to your track. These are searchable on Re-Ex.

Boosting:

  • a campaign starts at the top of the campaigns page. Campaigns can move down the list quickly, so it can be helpful to make use of the boost feature. When you boost your campaign, it will move back to the top of the list

  • you can boost a campaign at any time before the budget goes below 25 credits. Boosting normally costs 25% of the campaign’s remaining credits, however Pro Plan subscribers are given a number of free boosts which are made available at regular intervals over the course of each 7-day campaign. These will accumulate until the campaign ends or expires. They can be manually triggered whenever you like, and if you subscribe to Network Plan or above you can enable Auto-Boost in your settings if you prefer:

  • there are 'peak' times when more members are browsing the campaign lists, therefore the timing of a boost can make a big difference. You should consider timezones when listing / boosting campaigns. Where are most of your fans located? The extra stats available with a Soundcloud Pro subscription (we recommend this anyway) can be really useful for tracking these things. It’s also worth bearing in mind that a huge number of Re-Ex members reside in the USA, so afternoon / early evening there is usually a good time to list or boost a campaign

Custom campaign rules:

Use custom campaign rules (Pro Plan subscribers) to target the most suitable reposters, in order to make the most of the budget. Only members who meet the specified criteria will be eligible to repost the campaign:

The Campaign Accelerator:

When the Campaign Accelerator* (Pro Plan subscribers only) is enabled, your campaign will be put in front of many more, targeted members upon campaign launch, therefore speeding up the campaign.

This is an incredibly effective way to get more engagement on your campaign, especially in the first 24 hours. It works using a different mechanism to boosting, so the two can be used together for even better results!

The accelerator can only be enabled when creating a campaign, and adds 50% extra to the cost of the campaign. Please note that accelerated campaigns can not be paused.

Finally, don't forget about Direct Requests!

Campaigns can be super effective and easy to use, but sending Direct Requests to hand-picked artists on the Members page can also provide fantastic results.

For the best performance, we always recommend using a combination of campaigns and Direct Requests when promoting a track!
